O Saint Philomena, Virgin and Martyr, whom God glorifies by so many miracles, whom the Vicar of Christ has named thee "Protectress of the Living Rosary and the Children of Mary," manifest more and more plainly from the heights of heaven, that a voice holy as thine cannot be denied and that we have the right to rely upon thine aid. Obtain for us the grace to be faithful to Jesus Christ, even to dea...
th. Amen

[Venerable Pauline-Marie Jaricot]

St. Philomena, powerful with God, pray for us!

----------------------------------------------------------------

Feast Day: August 11th (but is not even on the liturgical calendar)

Also known as: Filomena, Filumena, Philumena, Philomene

Saint Philomena is a saint and martyr of the Roman Catholic Church, said to have been a young Greek princess martyred in the 4th century. Her veneration began in the early 19th century as a result of an archaeological find; after news of the find spread, several miracles were credited to her intercession. Nothing was known of this little known saint until her relics were discovered in the ancient Catacombs of Saint Priscilla at the Via Salaria in Rome on May 25th, 1802. The tomb was sealed with terracotta slabs in the manner usually reserved for nobility or great martyrs.

The tomb had three tiles marked with these words: LUMENA / PAXTE /CUMFI. Reorganizing these words a new phrase takes meaning saying clearly PAX TECUM, FILUMENA (Peace be with you Philomena), also inscribed on the tiles were symbols: 2 anchors, 3 arrows and a palm, which would appear to indicate virginity and martyrdom. It was a common custom of the early Christians to leave symbols and signs such as these, if somebody they thought to be a Saint, died. In the coffin they found the skeleton of a fourteen year old girl, along with a vial of her dried blood. After more than 1600 years, St. Philomena’s tomb is discovered!!!

On the 10th of August, 1805, the relics of the saint were transferred to Mugnano, a hill town near Naples and the home of Canon de Lucia. Continuous miracles of every kind accompanied this transfer:

-A mother of a blind son dipped her fingers into the oil of the lamp burning beside the tomb, placed the oil on the eyes of her son, and he was instantly healed.

-A lady of rank had a cancerous ulcer on her hand which required an operation. A relic of the saint was brought to her. In the evening she placed it on the wound. The following morning, when the surgeon arrived to operate, he found to his surprise that the wound had disappeared.

-Venerable Pauline Jaricot, a lady from France, was miraculously healed at the Shrine of St. Philomena from a live-threatening illness.

She became almost overnight one of the most popular saints in the Church, earning the nickname of "The Wonder-Worker" because of the countless remarkable favors that she sent to those who prayed to her. For a century and a half there was a worldwide Catholic devotion to St. Philomena, approved by many popes:

-Pope Leo XII (1823-1829), granted permission for altars to be dedicated and chapels to be built in honour of Saint Philomena. He called her the Great Saint.

-Pope Gregory XVI (1831-1846), mainly as a result of a miracle of healing brought about by Saint Philomena on Blessed Pauline Jaricot, issued a decree authorising the public cultus of Saint Philomena.

-Blessed Pope Pius IX (1846-1878), named Saint Philomena Patroness of the Children of Mary in 1849. He approved a special Mass in her honour in 1854.

-Pope Leo XIII (1878-1903), raised the Saint Philomena Confraternity to the rank of an Arch-Confraternity, enriching it with many indulgences. He blessed and approved the Cord of Saint Philomena.

-Pope Saint Pius X 1903-1914) had great devotion to Saint Philomena.. He encouraged an increase of devotion to the Saint and commanded that decisions and declarations of his predecessors concerning her be in no way changed.

BUT AMAZINGLY, SINCE THE 1960'S, SHE HAS BEEN ALMOST FORGOTTEN. ON FEBRUARY 14, 1961, PRIOR TO THE SECOND VATICAN COUNCIL, THE SACRED CONGREGATION OF RITES IN ROME ISSUED AN INSTRUCTION OF POPE PAUL VI AND REMOVED ST. PHILOMENA'S FEAST DAY FROM THE LITURGICAL CALENDARS.

The Story:

Philomena's parents were pagans, rulers of a Greek state. Stone and plaster gods could not provide them with their hearts desires for they longed desperately to have a child. On becoming Catholics the two were blessed with a child whom they named Philomena which signifies "Daughter of Light." She was Princess of Corfu.

It was on this account that they took her to Rome on a journey that her father was obliged to make on the occasion of an unjust war with which he was threatened by the haughty Diocletian. Philomena was then thirteen years old. On their arrival in the capital of the world, they proceeded to the palace of the Emperor and were admitted for an audience. As soon as Diocletian saw Philomena, his eyes were fixed upon her. The Emperor was enthralled by her beauty and wanted to marry her. But she refused and vowed to give herself to God. He wanted Philomena to be his wife, but she rejected his offer. Finally in a fit of fury he had her chained in a dungeon.

Philomena rejected all his offers, even though she was tortured and threatened with death. She was bound to a pillar and was savagely scourged. Seeing Philomena was terribly wounded Diocletian had her brought back to the prison to die.

But she didn't.
He ordered her to be thrown in a river with an anchor tied to her neck. The emperor was still hoping she would change her mind, but she refused again. After being thrown in the river Philomena survived again. Diocletian ordered to throw her again in the river, but also this time she survived. Then he ordered her killed by arrows. but she survived.

Due the fact that many who saw how she was treated, and that she was still alive, they started to accept and become Christian.

Determined to put end to this shame and stop conversions, the emperor had her beheaded. And this all because she refused to lose her virginity to Diocletian. An inscription near her tomb read: "Peace be with thee Philomena", along with drawing of 2 anchors, 3 arrows and a palm. It was a common custom of the early Christians to leave symbols and signs such as these, if somebody they thought to be a saint, died. She is known for the extraordinary miracles that occur when she asked to pray for us.

It's highly recommended, that if you need any help, you ask for her prayers.

Her shrine is in Mugnano, Italy.

SATAN'S NEXT STRIKE. It will be to give us the Latin Mass in every novus ordo, parish and on Sundays. When he sees that tradition is gaining ground, opening the mouth the Virgin of Fatima, practising the true Faith and gaining in numbers, he will try to keep the souls he has deceived. Satan will go as far as to allow all elements of the Catholic faith to be re installed, and even influence them to put back what he took away and God will allow it all to weed the wheat from the chaff / separate the sheep from the goats. They will bring back the Communion rails and kneelers, the Confessional boxes, allow the statues back in to the chapels, recommend traditional hymns , headcoverings for women, even clean the childrens catechisms up . It will come ALMOST right back to Catholicism, but the ALMOST is all the devil needs to win souls. It will be a deadly poison because the people will think they have got the ...

faith back, but the devil's essentials will be still be taught, and those who do not know the faith will perish. As Saint James said "And whosoever shall keep the whole law, but offend in ONE POINT, is become GUILTY OF ALL" Ecumenism of Vatican II, along with modernism, STILL practised by our Pope and right down to every parish member, is from the devil. It is evil. God only founded one Church to which we must belong for salvation.Fire and water do not mix. Do not be fooled by the counterfeit Church of satan. The true Mass will only be preached by priests who are ordained in the the old Rite, and only the faithful who attend and support them, and keep the true faith will receive all the graces necessary for salvation. Even if a priest is ordained in the old Rite and he says the old Mass, and then says the novus ordo Mass,or simply just agrees with ecumenism and modernism, it is satan he is working for, as you cannot serve two masters. It is either God or the devil. There is no in between +.

What Pope Pius XII said Our Lady warned about at Fatima came to pass exactly. The changing of the Mass 1969, the changing of the faith, the gutting of chapels and the Church doubting as Peter doubted. This Pope knew what would happen, and that is why he did not call the Vatican II Council. It was for John XXIII who was cohearsed into it. The Council was hijacked by liberals whom Pius XII's Holy Office listed "suspect of heresy". Hense his warning "all around me I hear innovators" He even foretold John Paul IIs series of apologies! They have demolished Catholicism and replaced it with yet another false religion. Don't be fooled! +

"With her destiny, which is at one and the same time that of Virgin and of Mother, Mary continues to project a light upon that which the Creator intended for women in every age, ours included, or, better said, perhaps precisely in our time, in which—as we know—the very essence of femininity is threatened. "

Feast of Our Lady of Grace
Blessed Mother says: "Praise be to Jesus."

"Today I invite each one to realize that they are called to love one another as God loves them. Imitate God's Love for you in every present moment. Be a sign of His Love in the world. Do not be overwhelmed with concerns of the day. Surrender everything to My Immaculate Heart. This is the doorway to victory."
...
"A part of My Triumph is the spreading of the Flame of My Heart around the world. Before the final tribulation, God will allow this to take place; then every heart will be illumined; but this will be like Christ's teaching on the Sower. Some will allow their consciences to be overgrown with the weeds of doubt. Others will repent but soon return to old habits or become concerned for the opinions of those around them. There will be some, however, who will cling to the Truth. It is within these hearts My Son will build His Remnant. Be part of the Remnant now by living in the Truth."

During her four...th pregnancy, she had serious complications and she rejected the possibility of having an abortion and gave her life instead to save that of her fourth child, Gianna Emanuela. Saint Zita (c. 1212 – 27 April 1272) was an Italian saint, the patron saint of maids and domestic servants. She is also appealed to in order to help find lost keys. One anecdote relates a story of Zita giving her own food or that of her master to the poor. On one morning, Zita left her chore of baking bread to tend to someone in need. Some of the other servants ensured the Fatinelli family was aw...are of what happened; when they went to investigate, they claimed to have found angels in the Fatinelli kitchen, baking the bread for her. St. Betina Zita died peacefully in the Fatinelli house on April 27, 1272. It is said that a star appeared above the attic where she slept at the moment of her death. She was 60 years old, and had served and edified the family for 48 years. By her death, she was practically venerated by the family. After one hundred and fifty miracles wrought in the behalf of such as had recourse to her intercession were juridically proven, she was canonized in 1696.

Her body was exhumed in 1580, discovered to be incorrupt, but has since become mummified. St. Zita's body is currently on display for public veneration in the Basilica di San Frediano in Lucca.

Her feast day in the Roman Catholic Church is April 27. To this day, families bake a loaf of bread in celebration of St. Zita's feast day.

Don't make an effort to overcome your temptations, because these efforts would strengthen them. Despise them and do not dwell on them. Call to your imagination, Jesus Christ Crucified in your arms and on your breast, And say, kissing his side a number of times: "this is my hope; the living source of my happiness. I will hold you tightly. Jesus, and I will not let You go until You have placed me in a safe place". St Padre Pio
